Fed: Rudd must come clean on Medicare Safety Net: Abbott

Federal Health Minister TONY ABBOTT says Labor must come clean on its plans for the
Medicare Safety Net.

Opposition health spokeswoman NICOLA ROXON says the issue will be addressed closer
to this year's federal election.

But in 2004 .. Labor said it would scrap the safety net and put the savings towards
hospital care for older Australians.

Mr ABBOTT says Labor's two billion dollar national health scheme .. announced last
week .. is never-never stuff .. and people are entitled to know if the Medicare safety
net is safe.
