WA: Bikie charged over carbomb murders

West Australian police have charged a bikie gang member with the car-bombing murdersof former CIB chief DON HANCOCK and his friend.

The 38-year-old member of the Gypsy Jokers motorcycle gang, from the southern Perthsuburb of Maddington, is charged with two counts of wilful murder.

Mr HANCOCK and his friend, racing identity LOU LEWIS, died when a bomb exploded intheir car at Mr HANCOCK'S home in suburban Lathlain on September 1st last year.

Police will allege the man was integral in placing the device in Mr LEWIS' car.

The murders are believed to have been carried out in retribution for the sniper-styleexecution of Gypsy Jokers member WILLIAM GRIERSON the previous year as he sat around acampfire in the Goldfields hamlet of Ora Banda.

Mr HANCOCK had ejected Mr GRIERSON and other gang members from his pub just hours before.

The charged man will appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court this morning.
