Vic; MP may be innocent of bribe charges, court hears

A National Crime Authority inspector has agreed it's possible federal MP ANDREW THEOPHANOUS
didn't take thousands of dollars in bribes.

NCA acting Sergeant GEOFF ARNOLD said under cross-examination in Melbourne Magistrates
Court today, he believed THEOPHANOUS had behaved suspiciously when he met a man who allegedly
offered him $22,000.

THEOPHANOUS, aged 53, faces 27 charges including receiving tens of thousands of dollars
in fees for providing immigration assistance.
